Sharon "Bebe" Barnett

Sharen Lois Chesak Barnett "Bebe" 77 of English Lake IN. passed away Sunday, January 14th 2024. She was born in LaPorte, IN on March 18th 1946 to the late Charles & Clara (Keehn) Chesak. Sharen lived her life on the farm & was a lifetime resident of the English Lake area. She was a lifetime member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in North Judson IN where she was baptized in the church, a graduate of St. Peter's Lutheran school & being a confirmed member in the church. Sharen went on to school in the North Judson-San Pierre high school where she was a member of the Class of 1964. On May 17th 1969 she married her forever husband Robert Lee (Bob) Barnett of North Judson, IN and they continue to reside in English Lake. She is survived by her husband, Robert L. Barnett, English Lake IN, son, Robert C. Barnett (Leslie Hinman) North Judson IN, daughter Cara Paige Barnett (Matthew Hamilton) English Lake, IN, 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews & godchildren. She was proceeded in death by her parents Charles & Clara Chesak, her brother Allen Chesak, 2 nieces Karen & Patricia Chesak, her foster brother Jerry Buckley, one goddaughter Shari Zimmerman & one granddaughter. Sharen (also known as Bebe to her loved ones) loved the country life. She enjoyed spending time in Michigan & Florida at the Chesak family cabins. She enjoyed shooting & target practice, fishing & had a love for animals & nature. She enjoyed reading & learning new things even in her later years. Bebe enjoyed motorcycles in which she had her own Harley Sportster, cars & racing. She was an avid sci-fi fan, especially Star Trek. For a long time Bebe had a pen pal in Russia that she wrote frequently in years passed in which her pen pal's family named her as an 'Honorary' godmother to one of the grandsons. Bebe loved her community, preservation & events. She was a member of the North Judson Mint Festival Committee for over 15 years & held the role of treasurer before retiring from the committee. She could tell you all kinds of stories in the area whether it was about events, buildings or people. She was full of knowledge that people would come to her for. She loved the Holidays in which she had decorations for each one, especially Christmas. She loved photography & videography, always having a camera in her hands. She enjoyed adding to her collections is glassware, chinaware, coke memorabilia, star trek memorabilia & more. Most of all she loved her family & her friends, which in many ways she considered to be extended members of the family. She was always willing to help others in need in any possible way she could. Always caring & thoughtful, she would look for the good in people. Never afraid to step up to a challenge & defend for what she thought was right. A wake for Sharen will be on Friday, January 19th, 2024 from 4pm to 8pm at O'Donnell's Funeral Home. The Funeral will be held Saturday, January 20th 2024 at 11am at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in North Judson, IN
