Landin "Brother" Minix Jr

Landin (Brother) Minix Jr, 63 of North Judson, Indiana passed away tragically and unexpectedly in his home on December 4th, 2024. He was born to the late Landin Minix Sr. and Louise (Woods) Minix on August 31st, 1961 in Knox, IN and attended North Judson-San Pierre School Corporation. He worked in construction and as a supervisor at Gulf Stream Coach in Nappanee, IN for many years. He is survived by his daughter Emily (Dominic) Baker, Son, Brothers Jack (Barb) Minix, John (Lori) Minix, Grandchildren Lucas, Leighton, Lauren, Sophia, Kohen, Lindsay, and endless family members who loved him dearly. Landin was a devoted dad and papaw who did everything in his power to ensure their happiness and comfort. He took so much pride in "showing off" his grandbabies. His granddaughter Lauren was his little sidekick. The love and strength he carried for his family was immeasurable and never waivered. Any one who knew him knows he would've given the shirt off his back for a stranger in need, he was selfless. This loss has left a void in all of us that can never be replaced and our hearts are broken. Landin was a man of many hobbies, one being a great passion for mushroom hunting. He could spot one from a mile away. He shared his love for morel mushrooms with everyone and dedicated any time he could out in the woods finding the best ones. He was an absolute rockstar on the guitar and played with friends and family often. He would sing his heart out and play, and made it all look so easy. He tried to teach anyone willing to learn. His favorite guitar was his 1975 Gibson Les Paul Cherry Sunburst. He also enjoyed playing piano, and listening to his favorite band AC/DC. He was a music lover through and through, music was his therapy. He would go fishing on Lake Michigan with his brother Jack and often talked about how much he cherished those trips. He loved everthing about being outdoors. Landin was an amazing cook and had a green thumb that could make any plant thrive. He spent a lot of time tending to his garden. He especially loved growing tomatoes and had an apple tree in his yard everywhere he lived over the years. He would always stop by with bags filled with whatever fruit or vegetable he had that day. He was constantly thinking and taking care of others. He spoke so gently and lent a hand to anyone he saw in need without hesitation. He was the greatest mentor, passing down his years of wisdom. His patience and ability to forgive was admirable. He showed us all how to have the strength to stand steady on our own two feet facing whatever life throws at us with courage, but he never taught us how to do it without him standing in the distance cheering us on. This silence that his absence has brought is deafening. He could light up a room with his presence and sense of humor, and the world is a little less bright today without him here. If Heaven had a phone many would be calling everyday, just to find comfort in his voice. He was never scared to take chances or do what made him happy. He encouraged others to do the same and I hope that we all can live the remainder of our lives to the absolute fullest in his honor. "You're the best of us. The best. The strongest, the smartest, the kindest, and the one with a heart stubborn enough that it resisted silence and cared for the most damaged among us." He was one of the good ones and will live on forever in our hearts and memories. He will never be forgotten. Landin was preceded in death by his Father Landin Minix Sr., Mother Louise (Woods) Minix, Brother Jerry Minix, Sister Suelinda Jean (Minix) Lee, Grandmother Olive (Conley) Tunis, Grandfather Herbert Woods, Step-GrandFather Carl Tunis, Grandfather Jim Minix and Grandmother May (Lovely) Minix, Daughter Yolanda Jean Marie Minix, Niece Tabitha Minix, Nephew Brock Minix and cousins Richard Clemons and Tabitha Thomas. This has been devastating for our family and we need some time to process this and grieve. We ask for patience, understanding and respect as we do so. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
