With heavy hearts and profound love, the family of Kathleen Renee Barnett Bailey, 54, announces her peaceful passing on November 14, 2025. Born on June 22, 1971, in Valparaiso, Indiana, Kathleen entered the world with a bright spirit that carried her through every chapter of her life. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose warmth, humor, and resilience made her unforgettable. Kathleen was the beloved daughter of the late Charles Barnett and Carla Barnett Collins, and stepdaughter of Michael Collins. She married the love of her life, Shawn Bailey, on August 26, 2023, and together they made their home in Hamlet, Indiana. A proud graduate of Knox Community High School, Kathleen lived her life rooted in family, loyalty, and simple joys. She was welcomed into heaven by her grandparents Bert and Mable Mullins and Les and Janie Barnett, whose presence she often spoke of with love and fond memory. A devoted and proud mother, Kathleen leaves behind her cherished sons: • Matthew Barnett and his wife Kristen • Christopher Adams and his wife Laura • Paul Adams She was also a loving stepmother to three stepchildren she cared for deeply: • Jasmine Hatfield and her husband Tyler • Brandon Bailey • Olivia Bailey As much as Kathleen adored her boys, her greatest joy came from being “Grandma”—and a dog mom. Her grandchildren—Connor, Kaydence, Tyson, Oliver, Mikayla, Bella, Lizzy, Jordan, Seth, Lucas, Noah, and Haylee—were the center of her world. She talked about them constantly, celebrated their milestones with pride, and made sure everyone knew that they were her heart. She also leaves behind countless nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and one special great-great-niece soon to arrive. Kathleen lived a simple, heartfelt life centered around what mattered most: family, comfort, and connection. She loved curling up with a good book, getting lost in her favorite TV shows, and enjoying quiet moments with the people she loved. She had a quick wit, a stubborn streak, and a tender heart—one she didn’t always show openly, but those who truly knew her felt it every single day. She will be remembered for her laughter, her honesty, her loyalty, and her ability to love without condition. Kathleen appreciated the small, everyday moments that made life meaningful, and her memory will continue to live on in the stories shared, the traditions passed down, and the love she gave so freely.
