Dottie Plank

Dottie S. Plank, 65 of North Judson, Indiana passed away on Sunday December 20th, 2020 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She leaves behind many loved ones who were touched by her generosity and love throughout the years including her 2 children, 2 grandsons, 2 brothers, sister, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and of course her two dogs. Dottie (Coldiron) Plank was born on March 9th, 1955 in Winamac, Indiana to Cecil and Joyce (Shepherd) Coldiron. Her siblings can recount many stories from their childhood with Dottie. She looked after her family and loved them dearly even as a young child. On August 17th, 1974; Dottie married the love of her life, Maynard Plank. They just celebrated 46 years of marriage together. Throughout the years they shared many fond memories and interests together. Dottie along with Maynard both rediscovered their love of the Lord and renewed their faith as they found their home church at Free Baptist United Church off of Highway 39. Knowing that Dottie won’t have to endure the pain of the loss of her love Maynard, brings the family comfort during this time. Dottie worked at La Porte Hospital for 39 years as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She then went on to do at home care, where the individuals she assisted she became very close to. Working with people and caring for them was a fitting career for Dottie as she had such a big heart and wanted to look after all those she met. Her children can recall the times she did anything she could to help them or their friends; she was always willing to step in and show love however she was able to. Dottie loved cooking, many times for a small fleet, but she also loved sharing the delicious food she cooked with others. She made sure for the holidays that there was plenty to go around for anyone who stopped on by including her favorites such as cheesecake, dirt dessert, or green stuff (watergate salad). She loved finding things that people liked when she’d go out to the thrift shops whether it be records, teapots, purses, or anything else she or someone was looking for. Many have fond memories of running with her to flea markets, thrift shops, and yard sales over the years. If she was going somewhere, she’d be sure to ask if you needed anything or wanted to come along. This world has lost a generous heart when it lost Dottie. Dottie is preceded in death by her husband Maynard who passed away on November 28th, 2020, her father, mother, brother, and grandson. Graveside Services will be held 11:30 AM CT Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Oak Park Cemetery, Knox, Indiana.
