Carolina Rodriguez

Carolina (Tijerna) Rodriguez, 78, of North Judson, Indiana, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2025. Born on November 19, 1946, in Tahoka, Texas, to Juan Tijerna Sr. and Ignacia Tijerina, Carolina led a life full of love, laughter, and devotion to those around her. On February 19, 1962, Carolina married her beloved Felipe Rodriguez, and together they built a beautiful life filled with warmth and joy. Carolina was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, whose family was the cornerstone of her life. She cherished her role as a mother to Philip Rodriguez Jr. and a grandmother to Jordan Gryder. Carolina's love extended to her sister, Elvira Ramirez, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and a great-nephew, who were all recipients of her deep affection. Known for her fiery spirit and vibrant personality, Carolina never met a stranger. She had a natural gift for making people feel welcome, and her kitchen was always filled with the smells of her incredible cooking, a testament to her love for bringing people together. Carolina’s heart was as big as her love for the simple joys in life—she found peace in the beauty of trees and flowers, often tending to her garden with the same care and attention she gave to her loved ones. Carolina lived in Shallowater, Texas, before moving back to North Judson, Indiana, where she continued to touch the lives of everyone she encountered. A true spitfire, her determination and zest for life will be remembered by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Felipe Rodriguez; son, Philip Rodriguez Jr.; granddaughter, Jordan Gryder; sister, Elvira Ramirez; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and a great-nephew. She is now reunited in heaven with her parents, Juan Tijerna Sr. and Ignacia Tijerna; her brother, Juan Tijerna Jr.; her sister and brother-in-law, Matiana and Ramon Rodriguez Sr.; and her sister, Isabella Martinez. Carolina’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her, and she will be deeply missed by all. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to a local charity of choice in Carolina's honor. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at a later date.
