Sula Ann (Shepherd) Combs, 79, peacefully entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Friday, August 31, 2018 at Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach, Florida. Sula was born on May 16, 1939 to Wash and Beulah (Bentley) Shepherd in Garrett, Kentucky. Sula is survived by her daughter, Pam Kaufman of Port Orange, FL; sons Randy of North Judson and Craig of Port Orange; sisters Faye (Bill) Smith of Warsaw and Sharon (Loren) Heirbrandt of LaPorte; brother Ray (Marlene) Shepherd of Douglasville, GA; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her son Darrell Combs; parents Wash and Beulah Shepherd; and her brother Nicholas Shepherd. Sula was a longstanding member of Calvary Baptist Church in Knox. Sula drove a school bus for the North Judson – San Pierre School Corporation for many years and also transported the band and athletic teams throughout Indiana and the Midwest. After she moved to Knox, she drove school bus for the Knox School Corporation and later worked at D&E Components and then MPI, where she retired. Visitation will be at Calvary Baptist Church, 1515 E SR 10, Knox on Saturday, September 8 from 9 AM CT until 11 AM. Funeral services will begin at 11 AM CT at the church. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery in North Judson. A luncheon will follow the burial at Calvary Baptist Church. Pastors Brian Pinson and Rodney Rudd will officiate the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Calvary Baptist Church.
