Minnie Wagner

May 6, 1926 - November 29, 2019

Knox, IN – Minnie Wagner, 93, passed away quietly on Friday, November 29, 2019 at LaPorte Hospital. She and her twin sister Mary were born May 6, 1926, in Lansing Illinois, to the late John and Margretha DeYoung. On February 22, 1944 she married James E. Wagner in Rensselaer, Indiana. Minnie was a hardworking lady and a mother of five that began her marriage as a farm wife in Rensselaer, Indiana. Upon selling the farm, Minnie & Jim owned and operated Chet’s Place in San Pierre, Indiana. After retirement from the restraunt, Minnie and Jim enjoyed “lake life” in Bass Lake, Indiana. Minnie was a lover of fishing, sewing, gardening, painting and watching college basketball. Minnie is survived by her five children: John Wagner of Athens, AL, Julie Cole of North Judson, IN, Margie (Larry) Pixey of San Pierre, IN, Tom (Melody) Wagner of Athens, AL, and Jerry Wagner of Athens, AL. She was a grandmother to ten grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren, and three great- great grandchildren. Minnie was proceeded in death by her husband Jim Wagner, her twin sister Mary Stover, one brother Willis DeYoung, son-in-law Beecher Cole Jr., and daughter-in-law Dorothy Wagner. Services will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, located in Knox, IN. Visitation 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. CST and Funeral Mass at 1:00 P.M. CST with Rev. John Scott and Msgr. Richard Zollinger officiating. Minnie will be laid to rest in Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.
