Harold "Curly" Holbrook Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Harold (Curly) Holbrook, beloved father and friend to many, passed away in his home on Sunday, January 17, 2016. Curly was born on September 30, 1935, in Warsaw, Indiana to Isom and Elsie (Prater) Holbrook. After attending Winamac High School, Curly joined the Navy and served from 1953-1956. On January 15, 1954, he married the former Ruth Eleanor Sehstedt. They were married for fifty-three years. Upon discharge from the Navy, Curly attended barber school on the GI Bill and upon its completion he moved his family to North Judson where he has worked as a barber for over fifty years. He was truly dedicated to serving his community as their barber, friend and neighbor. Curly loved God, his family and He is survived by a son Rick Holbrook and wife Michelle of E. Sandwich, MA, and two daughters, Susan L. Johnson and husband Dennis of Oxford, IN, and Kim H. Schoen and husband Jim of Oxford, IN.; six grandchildren; Tessa Hammelman, Melissa Goodrich (Doug), Zach Johnson, Blake Schoen (Holli), Payne Schoen (Kristie), Taylor Schoen (Jordan) and 9 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a special friend Rosanne Boisvert who filled the last 4 years of his life with love and joy. Curly is survived by one brother Cash Holbrook of Knox, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Eleanor Holbrook in 2010. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 22, 2016, from 4-8 CT at the O'Donnell Funeral Home in North Judson and after 10 AM CT Saturday, January 23, 2016 at the church. There will be a celebration of life service at 11 a.m. CT on Saturday, January 23, 2016, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in North Judson. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery immediately following the service. Memorials may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church, North Judson.
